Duties of a CNA Nursing Assistant
Here are some of the duties a CNA Nursing Assistant do:
1- Take Patient's Vital Signs such as body temperature, blood pressure, rate of respiration and heart rate. CNA records all vital signs and reports all unusual problems to the doctor or register nurse. CNA assists patient in making sure he/she is comfortable with their bed positions, their clothes, pillows etc. If the patient has any questions about their schedule or procedures the CNA will relay those to the doctor or nurse.
2- Perform a quick clean the patient rooms if it is needed. CNA often be found making beds and putting away laundry. CNA also make sure the room is clean, organized and sanitary in between deep cleanings.
3- Assist Patient with Mobility such as helping patient walks with the walker or move from the bed to the wheel chair. They will help patient to go wherever they need to go. In some cases CNA also helps the patient in using the restroom and make sure they are safe before leaving them. CNA also makes sure patients have enough exercise such as regular walks to promote good health and quick recovery.
4- Provide Patient Hygiene such as shaving a man's beard, combing patient's hair, helping patient get dressed every morning. CNA also assists patients in taking a bath or shower. Sometimes CNA even assists patient with brushing their teeth, spoons fed patients if they can't do it themselves. In a nursing home environment, the CNA will help the patient into the dining room, help them carry their food to the table and make sure they eat enough. Once the patient is finished with the meal, the CNA clean him up and help him to his next activity or back to his room.
